Poker equity calculator: exact hand vs hand odds
Equity is your share of the pot if the hand were checked down to showdown: your wins plus half your ties. Enter two hands, and the flop, turn or river if there is one, to see the exact numbers over every board that can come.
Working it out
Example: A♠K♠ against Q♥Q♦ before the flop. Of the 1,712,304 boards that can come, ace-king wins 46.0% and ties 0.4%, so its equity is 46.0% + 0.4% ÷ 2 = 46.2%; the queens have 53.8%. Give A♥K♥ a flush draw against Q♠Q♣ on 2♥ 7♥ 9♣ and it is the favourite: 536 of the 990 turn and river pairs win it the pot, 54.1%.
Formula
Equity = (boards won + ½ × boards tied) ÷ boards dealt. Boards dealt: C(48, 5) = 1,712,304 before the flop, C(45, 2) = 990 on the flop, 44 on the turn.
This is one hand against one known hand. At the table you face a range of hands, and the bets still to come change what your equity is worth. The equity lab in the app plays a hand against a range.

Common questions
What is a dominated hand?
A hand that shares a card with a stronger one, like A♣9♠ against A♥K♦. An ace on the board helps both, so the nine needs a nine to win and has only 26.1% equity. The lesson on domination shows why these hands cost the most.
Is equity the same as my chance to win?
Not quite. Equity counts a tie as half a win, because a split pot gives you half. A♥K♦ against A♣9♠ wins 71.5% and ties 4.6%, so its equity is 73.9%.
